It's simple. We want to help people.
I have always had a heart for helping people. When I was in college, with an entrepreneurial spirit, I wanted to start my own company in San Angelo, Texas. It was to be called Senior Services. I wanted to help seniors with day to day life by picking up prescriptions, offering transportation, delivering groceries, etc. I drew up my business plan and reached out for a small financial backing, but no one would give me a chance. Time after time, I was turned down. No one could see what I saw. This was all pre-Uber and pre-delivery services, but I saw the potential in offering these services in the late 1980's.
Fast forward ten years and I find myself in the ICU unit at Shannon Hospital. My younger brother was in a near fatal skydiving accident. He died seven times before reaching the hospital. Care Flight was relentless in keeping him alive. After only one week, the bills were adding up quickly. We were looking at over one million dollars. My brother had no insurance coverage at the time, so we quickly began looking for options. We found ourselves in "the system". Just another number on someone's check list. We were drowning in paperwork with no one to help us. We couldn't find anyone who understood "the system" or the mounds of paperwork. We ended up hiring an attorney to help.
I just remember feeling so helpless, so overwhelmed, so desperate to find someone to help us. After all those dark clouds lifted, I was determined to become the person that could help others in similar situations. That is why I do what I do.
